I First Saw In: c. 2010

Synopsis: After a famous author is rescued from a car crash by a fan of his novels, he comes to realize that the care he is receiving is only the beginning of a nightmare of captivity and abuse.

Did You Know? As of 2014, this is the only Stephen King adaptation to receive an Academy Award.

Quotables: PAUL SHELDON: You want it?! You want it?! Eat it til ya choke, you sick, twisted fuck!

And now a Word from the Guise:
Kathy Bates is immaculate as she breathes life into the deranged super-fan trope. She is terrifying and sadistic yet still altogether human, which is perhaps the most terrifying aspect of her. Her performance in this film was most-deserving of the Oscar. However, I am surprised it didn’t garner an Adapted Screenplay nomination; though to be fair, I’ve yet to see more than one of the nominees of said category for 1990.
