This category consists of my most favourite scenes in a film this past year. This year, there are 12 scenes that really stood out to me.
- Ralph Breaks the Internet gave me a taste for something I’ve been wanting for years: a Disney Princess crossover. It was everything I had hoped it would be. And it all culminated in the brilliant and hilarious scene where the Princesses band together and rescue Ralph.
- Prior to 2018, I’d only seen one Mission: Impossible movie, but before the release of Fallout, I watched all of them back-to-back and was surprised by how much better each film got as the franchise went on. And the same is true with Fallout. And the bathroom brawl is one of the most badass scenes ever. The choreography is intense. The cinematography is stunning. An outstanding scene.
- Never before have I watched a scene in a film that was so simultaneously hilarious and heartbreaking. Jim Cummings delivers a tour de force with his acting, writing, and directing in Thunder Road.
- The winner for my favourite scene of the year comes at the tail-end of Blindspotting, when Collin (Daveed Diggs) confronts Officer Molina (Ethan Embry), and delivers a powerful spoken-word performance about police brutality and racism in America.
