3rd Golden Guisers – 2018 Favourites

In years past, I’ve generally stuck to films that receive Oscar nominations, are big blockbusters, and/or are indie films with big names attached. For 2018, however, I decided to try to watch as many films released that year as possible. By December 1st, I was only at 77. By December 31st, I was up to 126. The results of which has led to a much larger pool of films that I really loved, but it certainly make narrowing down my favourites incredibly difficult! There were so many great performances this past year, as well great directing, writing, cinematography, etc, that it was indeed painful to eliminate some of them from my nominees. Before we get to that, here’s one last look at all the films we watched this year!

2018 films

And now for the awards! (Remember, in order for the films to be considered, they must have been made accessible to us here in Boise, Idaho between 01/01/18 and 12/31/18. You’ll notice that some of the films on this list were Oscar nominees from last year. That’s because we weren’t able to watch them until 2018.)

Favourite Scene in a Motion Picture:

This category is all about the scenes that resonated with us the most. These scenes include what we’ve deemed as the funniest, the most enjoyable, the most nail-bitingly intense, the most earnest, or the most horrifying scenes of the year.
